Poppins Bag



This is a series of three sessions.  We will teach you the steps of making a Poppins Bag and guide you through it!  The first session will break down the steps we will take and give cutting instructions and homework to be done before the next session (bring nothing with you but fabric ideas).  In Sessions 2 and 3 you will need to bring your sewing machine and supplies to use during class to construct your bag.


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: You will be required to have a working knowledge of your sewing machine. The class schedule does not allow the instructor time to assist students with their machines. We recommend you bring your sewing machine manual to class in the event your run into a problem.
Materials Included: Plumbing Tubing included in Session Fee.
Requirements: Poppins Bag Supply List: Aunties Two Poppin Bag Pattern with Stays; Focus Fabric - 1 1/2 yards or 2 1/4 yards if not using accent fabric (if using directional fabric add an additional half a yard; Accent Fabric 1 - 1 yard (handles, bindings, sashings, and bag bottom) or half yard if using Accent Fabric 2; Accent Fabric 2 - 3/4 yard (handles, bag bottom and binding); Bosal's In-R-Form Plus (58" wide) - 1 yard; Pellon 72F - 3/4 yard or Large CRAF-TEX PLUS fusible bag bottoms; Zipper - 30 inch with double slides (or pulls); Matching thread for piecing; 8 or 12 wt. cotton thread for bottom of bag; Plumbing tubing (will be provided to you). Other tools: Sewing machine; Walking foot; Sewing machine needles 100/16 Jeans/Denim; Ironing pad - Teflon sheet; Removable marker or chalk; Scissors; Pins; Wonder clips; Rotary mat and 60mm rotary cutter; Rulers; Seam Ripper; Milliner's size 7 hand sewing needle (or equivalent for sewing bottom of bag).
Instructor: Lois Dimock
Instructor Bio: Lois has been sewing and quilting since 1985. She started out being self-taught and then took many classes and fell in love with all that quilting had to offer. At first Lois would machine piece and hand quilt, mostly King size quilts. She ran a home daycare for 37 years and then went to work part-time for Quilting By The Yard for 17 years at the same time until their closing in June 2020. Lois worked with customers and taught classes.
