Introduction to Hand Embroidery

Students will learn about embroidery fabrics, tools, and thread. Likewise, they will practice three stitches required to begin this sweet pattern by Kathy Schmitz. Students will have time to develop techniques, troubleshoot mistakes, and practice under the guidance of a supportive instructor.

We recommend that students bring a snack or lunch; both refrigeration and microwave are available.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

•       Pattern: “Home Sampler” by Kathy Schmitz
•       Fabric: Crackle by Moda. One fat quarter.
•       Embroidery hoop: 3” or 4” 
•       Thread: Aurifil 12 wt. Black.
•       Thread: Aurifil 24 wt. in your choice of green, red, and yellow. See pattern.
•       Frixion marking pen: any color.
•       Needles: Size 7 Embroidery.  (or Variety Pack, if preferred.)
•       Scissors: Small, precise, pointed-tip. 
•       Needle threader: Clover is a good choice, but any will do.   
•       Lightweight fusible interfacing. Shape Flex (Pellon SF 101). ? yd.
