Getting Started with English Paper Piecing

If you are ready learn a new quilting technique that is fun, addictive, and will easily allow you to hand sew almost anywhere, then this class is for you. English Paper Piecing, sometimes referred to as EPP, is a form of quilt-making from the 1700’s. Fabrics are cut larger than the finished size and placed around paper templates and hand sewn together. This is an opportunity for you to play and experiment with a wide variety of fabrics. EPP is a stash friendly technique; you can easily utilize neutrals, solids, prints, fussy cut designs, batiks, etc.

In this class, we will use EPP techniques and templates related to Lucy Boston’s Patchwork of the Crosses, to learn
tips and tricks that will enable you to:
* Cut and wrap honeycomb hexagons templates,
* Design a fussy cut template,
* Play with color to build movement and interest,
* Utilize quick and easy basting techniques,
* Properly align and accurately hand-sew hexagons together,
* Easily remove template papers, and
* Develop an English Paper Piecing travel kit.
Please remember that this is a technique class. The class is designed to allow you to constructing samples that you
can later refer to as you work on other projects.
