Entangled Sky Quilt

Class 1 – Learn how to organize your fabrics, cut trapezoids and triangles, and piece A and B blocks to create the 3D illusion.  Students will have completed a couple of Blocks A and B at the end of the session.

Class 2 – Use the design walls to arrange your blocks and begin assembling your quilt top.  We will also discuss trimming points, optional border, etc.  Students will have at least one strip of blocks sewn together by the end of the session.

Class 2 will be scheduled at the first class.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: You will also be required to have a working knowledge of your sewing machine. The class schedule does not allow the instructor time to assist students with their machines. We recommend you bring your sewing machine manual to class in the event your run into a problem.
Requirements: Supplies Needed: Entangled Sky pattern by The Quilted Life (Krista Moser); Creative Grid 60-degree ruler; Sewing Machine in good working order, cord and foot pedal; Standard Sewing tools (pins, scissors, seam ripper, neutral/matching thread, etc.); Rotary cutter with new blade; Cutting Mat and Rulers: 2.5" x 18" (or 6.5" x 24.5" or 8.5" x 24.5") Fabric Requirements (based on 55" x 74" pattern size): OPTION 1 - As shown on pattern cover: Follow pattern for fabric requirements. Keep in mind "Oops" happen. Therefore, you may want to increase yardage slightly just in case. 3/4 yard vs. 5/8 yard. If you want to precut your strips before class to save time, you will need: (2) 2.5" strips from each blue-sky fabric (7) 2.5" strips from each shade of purple fabric (light, medium and dark) (7) 2.5" strips from each shade of coral fabric (light, medium and dark) (7) 2.5" strips from each shade of gold fabric (light medium and dark). OPTION 2: "MC Escher" look: 8 different fabric combinations are suggested (8 lights, 8 mediums, 8 darks). For a larger quilt, add more fabric combinations. 1/4 yard of each fabric (8 lights, 8 mediums, 8 darks); Fat quarters will work as well. Center triangles = 1/5 yard. If you want to precut your strips before class to save time, you will need: (6) 2.5" strips from center triangle fabric (3) 2.5" strips from each of the 8 "light" fabric (3) 2.5" strips from each of the 8 "medium" fabric (3) 2.5" strips from each of the 8 "dark" fabric Notes: Lights that are similar will heighten the 3D effect of the blocks. Scrappy works - as long as color/value contrast is clearly defined
